My friends have mentioned the book to me, but i never actually read it. After reading this background i know have an idea of what to expect. In the summary it said that Hester goes to jail for "Adultery". Her and her husband were separated for two years. And i doubt with there being such strict Christan laws divorce was out of the question. It was time for Hester to move on to someone else, and do what she wanted to do. It is also interesting that this was a society governed by Puritans, religious men and women who settled at Plymouth Rock, founded Boston, and began the experiment that grew into the United States of America.I cant wait to start reading this book.
